At birth, every child received a small wooden box worn smooth by generations of hands, filled with slips of paper. Words passed down through time.

And so the people spoke. Carefully. Safely. With words that had already been approved. Until one child was born whose box arrived completely empty. This is that story.

It is an ancient legend about borrowed voices - the ones handed to us before we were old enough to choose. The voices of parents, teachers, culture, fear, and approval that quietly replace our own until we can no longer tell the difference.
